Associate Dean for Finance and Administration
The Associate Dean for Finance and Administration reports to the Dean and works collaboratively
with the School of Nursing (SON) and university leadership to promote the mission, values and strategic
goals of the SON, University and profession. As the Chief Financial Officer for one of the leading nursing
schools in the world, this position provides strategic leadership and oversight for the financial and select
administrative operations of the SON.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides innovative leadership and ensures the integrity of the financial operations.
- Leads the planning, implementation and evaluation of the five year budget planning process.
- Manages the SON business office and financial management of sponsored projects and research.
- Serves as key advisor to the Dean on fiscal implications of the school’s academic, research and outreach programs.
- Collaborates proactively and effectively with deans, directors, faculty, and staff.
- Develops and implements systems to monitor and track long term financial activity.
- Assures financial accountability for effective utilization of all capital, personnel and revenue resources for priorities and budget forecasts for the academic mission.
- Creates transparency for all SON fiscal operations.
- Represents SON effectively with internal and external audiences.
- Strategically partners with the Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing to plan and project growth and revenue generating opportunities.
- Manages operations including human resources, research administration, mailroom, and facilities management.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in business administration or related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years experience of progressive financial analysis and management experience.
- A high level of energy, creativity, initiative, and strong commitment to fostering customer service and excellence.
- Exceptional oral and written communication, consulting and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work in partnerships with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders such as deans, directors, faculty, affiliate divisions, institutions, government officials, legal advisors, federal research administration, and senior university financial administrators.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience creating and executing financial management strategies.
