Women's Board Scholarship

Federal Pell Grant
This program provides grants to students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Grants are awarded to students who meet strict eligibility requirements and who demonstrate exceptionally high financial need. Federal funding levels determine the annual award amounts. Current annual award amounts range from $523 - $4,731. To be considered, you must complete the application process described under to apply.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
This program provides grants to students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Grants are available to students who demonstrate financial need. Priority is given to students who
enroll full-time and are Pell grant recipients. Depending upon availability of funds, the annual maximum award is $4,000. To be considered, you must complete the application process described under to apply.

School of Nursing Merit Scholarship
Funding for this competitive program is available to undergraduate and graduate students. The amount of the award varies, but can provide up to 50% of tuition costs. Depending upon the availability of funds, awards may be renewed each year. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress in their program of study. Undergraduate students interested in this program must complete the Baccalaureate Academic Merit Scholarship Application. Graduate students interested in this program must complete the Master's Academic Merit Scholarship Application. Decisions are made by the Admissions Committee and questions should be addressed to the Office of Admissions and Student Services.

Peace Corps Logo Peace Corps Fellows Scholarship
Provided by the School of Nursing to assist undergraduate students who have served in the Peace Corps. These limited, competitive scholarships are intended to assist RPCV's who have been accepted into the Peace Corps Fellows Program. Priority consideration will go to students who have returned from volunteer service within the last 24 months. The scholarship is in the amount of $12,500 for the academic program with $3,125 disbursed each academic term. Students interested in this program must complete the Peace Corps Fellows Program Application. Questions should be addressed to the Office of Admissions and Student Services.

New Careers in Nursing Scholarship
This program is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in association with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). The School will offer six scholarships of $10,000 each to students entering the Accelerated baccalaureate program in June 2010. Recipients must be from disadvantaged backgrounds or underrepresented groups in nursing and demonstrate significant financial need. To be considered, you must complete the NCIN application.

Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, Diversity, and Success Scholarship
The LEADS program is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Scholarships are awarded to incoming juniors in the traditional baccalaureate program. Recipients must be from disadvantaged backgrounds or underrepresented groups in nursing and demonstrate significant financial need. Award recipients will be required to participate in a variety of academic activities in association with the program including a 1-week program prior to Orientation. School of Nursing Grant
This program provides tuition assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. Award recipients must enroll full-time and maintain satisfactory academic progress in their program of study. Award amounts vary depending upon financial need and the availability of funds. School of Nursing/Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Grant
This program provides tuition assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. The program honors students with prior service in the Peace Corps. Award recipients must enroll full-time and maintain satisfactory academic progress in their program of study. Award amounts vary depending upon financial need and the availability of funds. Maryland Crown Logo Maryland State Scholarship and Grant Programs
For Maryland residents, the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) provides funding to support full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. MHEC offers several programs to support nursing study. These include need-based, occupational and merit based awards. Application for most programs requires completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st of each year. Additional application materials may also be required. Eligibility and application criteria can be found on the MHEC website.

Other State Funding
Non-Maryland residents should contact the appropriate State Higher Education Agency for information on funding opportunities available through their state of residency.
